After a day of doing absolutely nothing, Avery ducked into the subway and headed downstairs, a soft rain echoing on the ground behind him. Unlike most people who were there, Avery didn't really have a destination. In fact, his only purpose for going out at all had been to go someplace he could find something to do. He followed the thin (and dwindling) crowd of people through the doors where he was met with a whole new world of sounds.
This was actually one of his favorite things about the subway; there were so many different characters here, all gathering for a common purpose - to try to get somewhere in life. Be it the street performers slipping into the subway for some reprieve from the light yet enduring rain or the kids who had somehow managed to slip from their ever-so-watchful parents and were going on to reek whatever havoc they could before being caught again, there was always that feeling of freedom and anxiety.
Being in the cars was no different. As Avery stood , gripping a pole with one hand and leaving the other in his pocket, he could faintly hear the music coming through the headphones of the person next to him, which was just enough for him to drown out the 'subtle' argument going on between a lovely young couple just a few seats away. Yes, the subway was a cultural melting pot if one only took the time to pay attention to it. Avery was a 'smell the roses' kind of guy, so he always had time to pay attention to details.
For now, he'd head south. Maybe that would take him somewhere more interesting than this part of town...

Scarlett was out doing a little shopping hoping to make the day interesting, hopefully. Rain was light outside -- they were dripping into his her bags. She squeezed her hand tighter, making it harder for rain to escape into the bag of clothing. But still the rain dripped on the front her face. Her pink hood was up but only mid-way on her head. Soaking her bangs, and some parts of her hair that strayed from the hood.
Her next place was the Subway, she was headed south. She wanted to see what malls they had down there for her. Maybe something will three floors and made of glass, that would make up for the boring day she was having. Slowly walking down the stairs she tried her best not to slip from the slippery rain that covered the stairs. The rain had stopped hitting her head and bags. Shaking her head her hood dropped and her hair flung around -- as if it would help dry it off. Scarlett let out a sigh, not happy with the fact that she'd have to re-do her hair later.
She continued her way down the stairs, they were dry. So she wouldn't have to worry about her steps. Scarlett turned her head to look at the train. It was already here, her steps became faster. Finally arriving at solid ground. She turned towards the train -- trying to hurry before the doors would close. Her bags were dragging her to ground -- but thank god for the tennis shoes. If she were in heels they'd break by now.
Her pace grew. She saw the door began to close -- she didn't have to much until the door would close all the way. They were closing from the left side -- so she'd have to make it through the right side. "I'm going to have to run," She made the choice in her mind. Quickly breaking into a run, she pushed herself through the only hole into the train. Throwing herself she hit another body. Falling to the ground -- not breaking her fall she still held a firm grasp on her bags.
Realizing what had just happened these past five seconds, she quickly scattered to her feet. Pushing off the ground the ground with her hands. "Oh, I'm sorry --" She said looking at the man that she had bumped into. She gave a frown hoping he was alright and wasn't going to yell at her and question her motives. She felt the train pull as it thrusted into motion -- to late to kick her off.

A smile stretched Emilee's lips and she half turned her head to hide it as she watched the commotion in front of her unfold, of course it wasn't really that much of a deal, but it was more the disapproving looks and tuts from the older people around that had made her smile. A woman, clutching several large bags had just launched herself through a minute gap as the subway doors closed, and consequently launched herself straight into a man causing a collision of sorts.
Emilee braced herself against a pole as the subway took off with much shuddering that threatened to push her over, it had happened once actually, she remembered with a grin, it had been a rather embarrassing move, one that she didn’t wish to repeat again, so she clung tight and tried to remain steady. As the woman got up, she moved over absent mindedly to give her some space to stand in the crowd of people.
Her eyes rested upon one of those maps that showed where you were heading off to and she noted with interest that they were heading south. During Emilee’s free time, it was a frequent habit, almost hobby, to go down to the subway and get into whatever was there at the time. She called it her way to see new places, and meet new people, you never knew when something interesting might show up.
Em’s hair and clothes was already rather damp, and had darkened several shades due her walking in the rain without an umbrella, another one of her stranger things she liked to do. Her secretive smile widened slightly as she noticed the contrast in her damp and casually ‘flung-a-brush-through’ hair and the perfect hair of the woman who had fallen over. “So where are you heading” she asked the woman with her friendliest smile. ‘Might as well meet someone new on the way’.

Avery laughed softly after making sense of what had just happened. For someone who paid so much attention to his surroundings, he sure hadn’t seen that one coming. “It’s alright, he said with a smile, standing right again and reaching down to help the girl up. He let his hand fall, however, when he saw that she was already off of the ground and instead used it to grasp the pole once more before the train took off.
Shifting his position, he listened in as the woman who’d run into him was addressed by another passenger. Eavesdropping may have been a bit rude, but he wasn’t really one for manners. Even at his age, Avery’s curiosity had never let up. Besides, was there anything more interesting to do at the moment?
Perhaps if he was like the blue-collar clone standing on the other side of the pole he was gripping his mind would be filled with list after list of all of the things he had to do before the night’s end. Even on days like these when there wasn’t a single entertaining thing to do, Avery couldn’t imagine he envied him his life, lists, and business. Working your life away to have things you would just have to work more to keep was grossly overrated.

Entertainment. That was the first word that came to mind as he watched the ruckus silently at his seat. The man was slightly leaned over, his elbows on his knees as his overcoat staying soaked as his. His spiked brown hair now seemed flattened by the little of rain. Nothing was ever going to change the fact that one day he was going to escape from this hick town and get away from these...these......freaks.. He laughed a bit now as he watched a girl fall flat to the ground, on top of someone else, as a man tried to help her. Man, there was a reason that he had to come out here. And maybe this was the reason his mind had dragged him out here on this cold raining day. Well, it wasn't exactly raining as much as it was sprinkling. Sprinkles. HM. Those sounded good on ice cream right about now.
He sat there now, watching the strange crowd. He him self had two empty seas next to him and one to the front of him. It seemed as if no one wanted to sit near or around the man. Yes, he was strange, but he wasn't that strange. Okay. Yeah. Maybe he was, what with all the Telekinesis and the power to make people disappear. Not on command just yet, though. If he could, then Division One would be gone by now. Heck, the world would be gone by now. But he knew that was wrong, and as his eyes gleamed laughter at the clowns he now stared at, he only wished he could control it. Make it to where dimwits like these could just disappear into oblivion. Hey, it's just another dumb ass that's leaving, right? I mean, what's there to lose? Now if only he could control them......

The pole where her hand was found was cold. You would think it would be warm but it wasn't. It made her want to release, but she got distracted by the cute man. She wanted to say something but she was inturrupted by a ladies question. Scarlett turned to face the lady. "Awww, she's so pretty --" Scarlett thought, but physically a smiled showed through.
"I'm really not headed anywhere -- where there are malls, that's where I'm at." Scarlett said smiling at the pretty lady. Well since she was talking already, "I'm Scarlett --" She said slowly to the lady. She turned to look at the man, to make sure he caught her name. Scarlett gave him a brighter smile -- really she was more interested in the man than the lady. Scarlett would die for good looks.
"Where are you guys headed off too?" She said giving a white toothed smile. Her head shifted back and forth between the man and lady. Maybe it was time Scarlett found friends and a love life. Scarlett set down her bags between her legs, letting go of the pole. She began to adjust her wet clothing and hair, her drenched hair. Scarlett turned her head to the side and began running her hands through it trying to get as much water out of it as she could.
[[O O C, Domonic what was the point in your post?]]

Emilee shifted her weight and her smile grew warmer at Scarlett’s reply, and a laugh broke through. "I'm really not headed anywhere -- where there are malls, that's where I'm at." , of course, to the mall. It was generally where a large number of females spent their time; but judging by her bags, she had already hit a number of shops already.
“Nice to meet you Scarlett, I’m Emilee” she replied sincerely, it had been a while since she’d met anyone so… Vibrant… And happy. Which was a rather refreshing change from the other, more downbeat people, she’d met recently. Turning her head slightly to one side her eyes danced, as she saw what, or rather whom, it was that her attention was on. Scarlett’s question of where they were heading to snapped her out of her not so inconspicuous appraisal of the man, and it took her a second for her to gather her thoughts. “Hmm..? Oh. Mmm well I just got on whatever was nearest and here at the time, so I’m not really sure where I’m headed.” Emilee shot Scarlett, and the man, a winning grin, to convince them that she wasn’t totally insane.
Her smile faltered a bit as she felt that peculiar sensation one feels when someone is watching you, and she turned around to find herself staring straight into someone else’s eyes. A flush crept up her face, she had meant to do that more stealthily, and she aimed a questioning smile at him. A lot of people had seen the little crash accident between Scarlett and the man, but there was something about his gaze that seemed different. With one final glance and wavering smile, she turned back towards Scarlett and the other man.

Avery smiled at the woman as she gave her name – Scarlett. He wasn’t blind, so he did notice that she watched him… and how she watched him - something that probably wasn’t good for his already-inflated ego. Still, he kept to himself, not wanting to intrude on their conversation even though he was informally included.
When he realized that her question was addressed to both him and the other girl (who he now knew to be Emilee), however, he decided to speak up. “I’m just heading out to visit my cousin,” he lied for no reason in particular. He had a horrid tendency of doing that; lying came as second nature to him. Sometimes it was a defense mechanism, but he’d gotten so used to it that sometimes he didn’t even notice it until it was already out. Of course, he really didn’t have anyone he needed to be careful around, so what did it matter?
His eyes followed Emilee’s gaze (albeit a bit more subtly) to a man who was watching them, but he wrote it off to be nothing, turning back to the two girls. After that spectacle, it was no surprise that someone would be looking. In fact, several people were. Perhaps if he’d taken a closer look at the man, he would have noticed what Emilee did, but, as it were, he wasn’t really all that interested in him…
"I'm Avery, by the way," he added, offering another smile to the two.

Voices broke through the shaking noise she was making with her hair. "Emilee," She repeated in her head. She thought it was a cute name. She listened to Emilee's answer to her question -- now knowing Emilee wasn't really headed anywhere. To let Emilee know she was listening she gave her a smile and shook her head. Scarlett quickly jerked to face the man -- as he spoke.
His voice sent chills up her back, it was so deep and masculine. Kinda hot through her eyes, and his name matched him perfectly (he does look like an Avery). Smiling warmly at them both, she moved upright -- she was done shaking the water from her hair. Hurrily grabbing onto the pole, to make sure she was secure so she wouldn't go flying into the man once the train stopped. She closed the inside of her legs closer. Making it tighter on the bags between her legs so they wouldn't drift anywhere.
She really didn't know where the malls were in the south. So she was hoping someone would tag along. "Emilee, do you want to come shopping with me? You too Avery, if you guys want." Scarlett smiled at the them both trying to prove she's not some creeper. "I understand it's on a short notice and we barely know each other but I don't want to be alone in the south, I heard it can be a rough part of the town." She said looking down at her feet. Scarlett didn't want to sound like a scaredy cat -- but in a way she was.
She was scared of the thought of being beaten up, left there to die, etc... Scarlett's past really didn't help. Although her past does incounter her beating up and killing other people. She promised herself no more of that and noone knew, they wouldn't ever find out they were talking to a murderer. Her legs grew closer, squeezing the bag tighter. Hoping they would join her. As she hoped even more that the man would join her -- become her handsome knight.

“Nice to meet you too, Avery” Emilee said cheerfully, and she had to work to conceal a wide grin as she watched Scarlett watch Avery. It was kinda cute how she was acting, and she wondered vaguely what he thought of Scarlett, as she looked him over again. She supposed that he was pretty hot, but Emilee herself had always wanted the kind of relationship that came from being friends first. Scarlett’s question shook her out of her thoughts, and she turned to look at Scarlett, taking a second to remember what she had said.
"Emilee, do you want to come shopping with me? You too Avery, if you guys want… I understand it's on a short notice and we barely know each other but I don't want to be alone in the south, I heard it can be a rough part of the town."
“Ah, sure”, Emilee replied enthusiastically with a smile, “and if anyone tries to pull anything then I’ll kick their ass” she said with a laugh, throwing a mock kick sideways and then wincing as she almost kicked someone. Emilee was happy at the prospect of actually spending time and getting to know someone new, even if it did mean going to the mall with only twenty bucks. “So whaddya say Avery?” Emilee said with an encouraging smile to him, “the more the merrier, right?"

Avery laughed as Emilee’s kick before considering their offer. Shopping with two girls probably wasn’t his ideal day, but it wasn’t really like he had anything better to do. Besides, what did he know about how girls shopped? Maybe the things everyone said were just stereotypes… maybe it wouldn’t consist of him carrying a ton of bags and waiting in store after store while they tried on the entire stock?
Of course, by the looks of Scarlett’s haul, he had to assume otherwise.
Shrugging, he submitted. “Sure, I guess… why not?” It would be a learning experience if nothing else, and perhaps the next time he would know better and maybe suggest something else. Well, if it got to be too unbearable, he could always play the imaginary cousin card and hope that they wouldn't want to meet the invisible family member...
ooc;; sorry it took me so long to respond... got wrapped up in some school stuff. also, sorry that i left you guys with such a crappy post after all that time... a bit museless today.

The excited rushed through her veins, as a bright smile grew across her face at Avery and Emilee's answer. "Sweet," She said to them both. Scarlett leaned forward and looked out the window to look where they were. Scarlett leaned back, wondering if they were almost there. She was so eager to get to know Emliee, but more to know Avery.
She let go of the pole, and rubbed her neck, her muscles were tense for some reason. There was a voice in the background but she ignored it trying to soothe her neck. Without notice the train took an abrupt hault, she was thrown back into Avery. The next time she opened her eyes, she was ontop of him -- but because she was so uneasy and embarassed she started laughing. Quickly rushing to her feet, and picking up her bags that were flown everywhere. Scarlett began to apologize, when she gathered all her belongings she held out her hand to help him up.

Emilee had to laugh at the expression on Avery’s face, he looked sort of… Pained, like he was trying to think up a reason not to, but couldn’t, so gave in. Especially when he took in the amount of bags that Scarlett had, it was rather amusing actually. To put the poor guy out of his misery, Emilee decided to inform him that there wouldn’t be any shopping from her before he found an excuse to run away or something. Scarlett would probably appreciate it if he stayed, “Don’t worry Avery,” she said with laughter in her eyes, “I won’t be doing any shopping today, so you have half the amount of bags to worry about.”
Emilee was just about to say something else when once again the abrupt start-stop of the train launched Scarlett into Avery. She herself was merely thrown forward a few steps, as the stop took her by surprise, but she still had a hand on the pole, so relatively less damage was done.
She had to resist the temptation to lift her eyebrow at the pair of them on the ground, and laugh, but satisfied herself with a comment. “Wow, that seems to be becoming a habit, think it’ll be happening any more in the future?” she grinned cheekily at them and laughed internally at the hidden meaning. “But all joking aside, any broken bones? Bruises? Scrapes? General injuries that should require immediate attention?”
