Cordelia nearly collapsed on the park bench, sighing as she looked mournfully at her feet. They burned like hell in her flats, which she removed immediately before sitting cross legged on the bench. It was a surprisingly warm, not rainy day with the sun shining and the sky blue, much different that weather had been for awhile. She decided to enjoy it while it lasted: the weather wasn’t usually this nice, and in an hour or so? She didn’t expect it to be the same.
She looked at her surroundings, trying to find something to do. All she saw was a playground, but no people around her anywhere. That struck her as odd. People were always around, especially since it was a park in the middle of a busy city. It was quiet… almost in an eerie way. She stood, taking her bag and shoes in hand, and moved over to the swing set, letting her things fall into the sand. It was almost pure white, and very cool compared to the heat walking around had created in her shoes. Sitting, she put a hand on each chain and pushed off, slightly, drawing up her feet to allow her to slowly swing back and forth, back and forth. It was a very relaxing process, and it made her smile as she pushed off a bit harder.
Anyone passing by will think something's wrong with me she thought, with a small smile. Not many eighteen year olds hung out at the playground, and fewer by themselves. But as it was probably already evident to anyone who knew her for over a minute, she was no normal eighteen year old girl.
No normal girl at all.
