MORGAN VAUGHN"such wit without a conscience equipped"`I WOKE UP AND WISHED THAT I WAS DEAD,»basics
fullname || Morgan Jean Vaughn nicknames || age || 29 gender || female orientation || straight category || division one occupation || scientist power || none
`THE WHOLE WORLD IS MOVING AND I'M STANDING STILL, »appearance
face claim || Natalie Dormer height/weight || 5’4” distinguishing features || none brief description || Cold, ice-blue eyes stand out against pale skin, forming a beauty that is a strange blend of frigid and frail depending on the situation. Her face is framed by curly brown hair that stretches down past her shoulders (though, at times, she will straighten it). With her tiny frame, Morgan is small, but she is more than capable of intimidation.
With her delicately stern face always covered with makeup (which she uses to, ironically, achieve a natural look), her style is always more formal – a perfect reflection of her neat and tidy persona. She prefers dress suits to jeans (even when she’ll just be covering it with a lab coat) and will often have her brown hair pulled away from her face when she’s at work. She’s the last thing most of her patients will ever see… might as well be nice to look at.
`AND EVERYTHING I SAID I'D DO MAKE THE WORLD BRAND NEW AND TAKE THE TIME FOR YOU, »personality
likes || science, numbers, order, power, money dislikes || messes, children, rebels, restrictions, sweets strengths || brilliant, persuasive, determined weaknesses || cold, conscienceless, one-tracked mind aspirations || to perfect the augmentation drug secrets || she’s run a test or two that was unconventional even by Division’s standards fears || she will never perfect the drug, the public will be informed of Division’s actions, she will perfect the drug and the psychics will become uncontrollable quirks/habits || a fixation with clicking/tapping (it’s a bit of a nervous habbit) overall || Cold and calculating, Morgan has no problem with the actions of Division One. In fact, it is her firm belief that the psychics need to be controlled at all costs or they will be too dangerous to society. To her, psychics are just numbers – weapons they could either utilize or be killed by, and she refuses to see the end of mankind at the hands of something she could’ve been rid of.
Morgan holds order and cleanliness above all else, something that is highly prevalent in her lifestyle from her plain, modern, and almost picturesque apartment (which she’d had to hire someone to decorate to get anything interesting in it) to her dress and overall appearance. She also pays close attention to health, almost always rejecting comfort foods in favor of something with a bit more sustenance.
She isn’t completely frigid, of course. Morgan does have a soft spot or two, but in her mind, all of her actions are justified. As a scientist, she truly believes that knowledge is superior to ignorance in any case, but with her current experiments, it goes much deeper than that. With a mind that works in numbers, Morgan doesn’t see the problem with hurting a few people to serve the rest, and she is completely objective with this theory. If offering herself up for a similar experiment could save hundreds of people, she would happily become the test subject.
Still, as it is difficult to find people in her age range that could possibly have understood the way her mind worked, Morgan has always been distant with very few, generally older friends. Even now that her peer group has expanded as she comes closer and closer to thirty, she hasn’t adapted to normal social situations. Interaction generally remains very formal with her, even when speaking to family (something she doesn’t do very often).
`I JUST GOT LOST AND SLEPT RIGHT THROUGH THE DAWN, »history
mother || Cameron Vaughn father || Arnold Vaughn siblings || Tomas Vaughn (22) other family || The Vaughan family tree is extensive, but Morgan is estranged from them, so no one is particularly notable. backstory || Morgan Vaughn was born on February 12th of 2114 to a wealthy anesthesiologist and philosophy professor, the first of two Vaughn children. She and her brother never really got the chance to bond as, by the time Tomas was even born, Morgan had already learned to play complex pieces on the piano (although composing was something that she would never learn to do) and flying through primary school. Entering high school at the age of nine was not easy for Morgan even in the expensive private school her parents sent her to, so she studied relentlessly until the day when she finally managed to test out.
Morgan’s parents were always very supportive of her and helped her get through the intense testing she pushed herself through without forcing her to do so. In fact, Tomas, although he was also quite brilliant, decided that he would not skip ahead. This was a poor choice in Morgan’s opinion, but her brother was far too concerned with friends and social status to care that he could be doing critical research so much earlier instead of breezing through high school like everyone else. Tomas really wasn’t interested in science, though – something that put a big space in between himself and his strange, genius sister.
After high school, Morgan began her studies at twelve, graduating summa cum laude at the age of fifteen. From there, she went on, ever active in both school and society, until finally gaining enough experience to attract the attention of Division – her first serious project.
Her first years in Division taught her a great deal. Starting at the age of twenty four, Morgan had to learn to deal with the first assignment she’d ever had that had a greater failure rate than success rate. At first she was very uncomfortable with the idea of killing human beings, but she knew that they were working for a greater cause, and, after a while, it eventually didn’t bother her at all.
Another thing she’d been uncomfortable with was the secrecy. In the earlier stages, she wasn’t really trusted with much, and so she spent a great time studying, but didn’t really find out until after about a year what they were really dealing with. After that, everything she said if she ever spoke about work had to be carefully filtered. Morgan wasn’t exactly the World’s best liar, either, because she’d never really had a reason to do it before, but now it was a bit easier – she could leave out information without ever letting on that she was doing so.
Socially, her situation improved slightly since joining Division. She had a number of colleagues with whom she had at least one thing in common, but it was still difficult for her to make anything casual. The older she gets, however, the more she learns about blending into the culture. Maybe someday she’ll finally get it right.
