there will be NO RULES TONIGHT if there were we’d break them ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------It was a fairly chilly, sort of rainy day, but not enough of one to keep Aislynn indoors for an evening. She never did like staying inside, and it was only drizzling, and she wasn’t the sort to worry much about her hair getting wet or her shoes messed up. So she put her rainy day clothing on, grabbed an umbrella, and decided the best way to spend the day was window shopping. Though it was night time, all around her people rushed and pushed past, and when she said “excuse me” after bumping into them, they’d only give a grunt or nothing at all, but hurried on their way. That was one thing about Lorburn she didn’t like. She loved the city, but sometimes wished she was somewhere were there was space to move around and fun free for miles without worrying about running into anyone because almost no one was around. Alone? No, she hated being alone. She imagined it would be something she’d do when she got married. Move out of the city and somewhere nicer… Her mind snapped back to reality. Who was she kidding? Could she even marry? Sure, she could, but what about her gift? ’Oh, yes honey, I meant to tell you before we married, but I can move things with my brain!. She couldn’t hide it from someone she really cared about, but who would want to marry a freak like that? Yeah, so it happened in all the movies and stuff, but deal. Those were movies. This was real life, and people weren’t as accepting. A shoe store caught her eye, and she swam out of the crowd tog get a closer look. It was a pair of boots, black and leather, something she’d definitely wear to a party or when clubbing with her girls. As much as she wanted to buy them, she knew it would be a dumb idea. Just the looks of the store shouted “EXPENSIVE!”. Sure, she knew she could ask her mother to send her money, and being a fashionista she’d agree immediately, but what was the point in wasting money. As she turned, she accidentally bumped into someone, and for some odd reason it made her giggle. "Woah! My bad " she laughed, looking up to the stranger with a sweet smile. She often smiled, even at strangers. Actually, she smiled all the time. She was just… smiley, she supposed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ! done TAGGED! Open! --------------------------------------------- Titian wasn't too worried about going out in the rain. I mean, that was his kind of weather. After closing his book, putting on a pair of loafers, petting his cat, and grabbing an umbrella. The oddly tall and lanky man took a walk around. Normally he would just walk to nowhere in particular. He would just wander. As everyone he knew said, he was a vagrant. He moved with no home or family to go to. He kept his head down as he walked, he looked like a man with a mission but he really wasn't going any place important. Titian didn't mind the rain, but he preferred not to get wet. As he made his way around the city he noticed how crowded it was tonight. He wasn't surprised, it was just the first time he ever really noticed. When he saw a girl approach a shoe store he smiled, he barley knew anyone, maybe he could start up a conversation, without freaking the women out. This would be a challenge. Titian walked up behind her and looked over her shoulder and smiled softly to himself. He noticed she liked the shoes, they were nice shoes, he even had to admit that. He was then going to saw something but she turned and ran right into him. When she giggled he was struck back, then it hit him, he still wasn't used to people, it had only been 2-3 years since he escaped from D1. When she smiled and apologized he tried to smile back. " it's fine... but it is partly my...bad for standing behind you..." he said, still not quite sure how to approach the situation.

there will be NO RULES TONIGHT if there were we’d break them ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------A young man. Of course. And he just had to be good looking. Again, of course. She noticed something weird about his smile. One thing about Aislynn? She was always very aware of facial expressions. It helped her learn about a person, to see what sort of person they were. Something about his smile caught her attention, like he wasn’t quite sure whether or not to smile. She, however, pushed it aside. "One of those days, I guess"she replied, realizing she was on the mood to converse with someone. She usually was, but being away from people… or, people she knew, made her a little desperate for conversation. Maybe he wouldn’t mind much. "Don’t worry about it, though. Happens to the best of us, you know?" she said with a shrug. Little fazed Aislynn. The last time she could remember getting openly angry was at a basketball game a few months ago. Some drunk jerk in the back kept making kissing noised in her ear, and had continued until the third quarter, when she finally turned around and splashed him with her fruit punch. That meant having to haut ass out of there seconds later, because he and his biker friends stood up. And they weren’t very nice looking men… Something red flashed in the corner of her eye, and a double take made her look down. She immediately gasped. There, in about half an inch of water, lay her phone, screen cracked and messed up. "Damn" she muttered, usually careful not to curse around any male, since her mother said it was “unlady-like”, then laughed again, mainly at herself. She wasn’t at all angry. It took more than a broken phone for her to be angry. "Leave it to clumsy old me… looks like I’ll be needing a new one "Her mother would understand. She was the type of person who always fell, always ran into things, always seemed to me a magnet for trouble. Luckily, taking years of dance helped counter that gene with grace, though she was quite the clumsy kid in middle school, and it tended to rear it’s ugly green head once in awhile. Kind of like now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ! done TAGGED! Titian! --------------------------------------------- Titian blinked, she was pretty girl. At least to him, she was very attractive. He nodded at her comment, " Yes, suppose it does..." he responded quietly. He looked down at his feet, the umbrella still hung over his shoulder. He wiggled his toes in his loafers. He wasn't normally so...shy... but he didn't want to be a burden, which was also not normal for him. He never remembered the one-night-stands he would always have. He was too wasted to notice, at least he wasn't a horrible drunk, he was told by various women tat he turned into a sweet puppy dog the more drinks he had. When she cursed he lifted his head to see her phone in the water. He couldn't help himself, he laughed, giggled really. A creepy sort of giggle, like a 3 year old girl with a knife, that kind of giggle. He slapped his hand to his face and looked completely scared. stop it Ti, your gonna blow it! he thought then looked from the phone to the girl. He paused, " If you'd like I can get you a new one... It's not a burden, I have the money...it was my fault you were not paying attention to your phone..." he offered, he had read in his books that being kind was a good thing. But the whole time his smooth voice seemed, awkward and scared, like it was difficult to come up with something to say. But his intentions were good, despite his normal attitude, which was to laugh and push the girl into the water.

there will be NO RULES TONIGHT if there were we’d break them ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------His giggle startled her, and when she saw him slap his hand over his mouth, she couldn’t help but giggle back. She wasn’t laughing at him, more with him… and because of his reaction. He seemed a little… awkward, she noticed. Like he wasn't quite sure of himself or wasn’t sure what he was saying was the correct thing to say. He seemed on edge, and Aislynn wondered why, but it didn’t bother her much. He seemed kind enough, with his smooth voice, and had been nothing short of kind, so far. Nothing about him screamed “creeper”… though the giggle was a little creepy, but cute in an odd sort of way. Dude, Aislynn, wake up she thought, giving herself a mental slap. Why was she so cute guy obsessed? Sometime, she hated having gone through puberty. She was, however, always on guard, and not just for him. For any guy she encountered. His words about the phone startled her to a point of… well, unable to speak English for about a minute. "Um…"Well damn, he was nice. And thought she didn’t doubt he had plenty of money by the confidence with which he said it, but she still sort of felt bad about having him, a stranger, someone she’d never met and happened to bump into, pay for her phone. She felt guilty, greedy almost. Usually, she’d say “Oh, no biggie, I’ve got it covered, but thanks!”, but she couldn’t say no for some odd reason. Her brain forgot how to say it. Embarrassed, she looked to her dead phone, gingerly picking it up off of the ground. "I… guess…I can’t thank you enough. I definitely owe you one…"Touched, she couldn’t rein in her smile, and held out the hand that wasn’t holding her umbrella. Such an inconvenience, but he still offered to pay for a new phone. How… sweet. She wasn’t used to that. What she owed him… well, she’d have to think about that. What could she possibly give him? Maybe the best way to find that out was to learn a little more about him. "Name’s Aislynn, by the way" she added, taking a half step closer "What’s yours?"---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ! all done TAGGED! Titian! --------------------------------------------- Titian almost smiled when all she could utter was a confused um... It was funny how just a simple sentence could make someone think about the situation. Ti was always the one to be interested in the way people act. Because he wasn't good at socializing, he found humor and interest in watching other people. He found it comforting. Titian was a bit surprised at her comment, that she owed him one. How would she pay him back? He didn't understand but he shoved that thought aside. When she smiled he couldn't help but send a small smile back, but it vanished as soon as it had come. "Titian, I'm aware that it's an odd name but... it's a...family name..." he said, the word family coming out, off, like it was painful for him to say it. When he noticed her take a step closer, he took a step back, it wasn't that he didn't want to be closer in order to hear her better. It was a reaction and as soon as he had done it he said a quiet sorry, but it was barley heard with the crowd around them. He then took her hand and shook it, maybe to make up for backing away. " so... were do you normally buy your phone?" he asked.

there will be NO RULES TONIGHT if there were we’d break them ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Odd name?Odd names were the most amazing thing in the world to Aislynn, right after dance, that was. She loved thinking up and hearing odd names. Titian… lovely name. She found herself wondering where it came from and what the origin was. It was a strong name, kind of mysterious, and rolled off the tongue in a way that she liked. She liked that, Mysterious things attracted her… "You’ve got a wicked awesome name, Titian" she said, savoring the sound. What a cool name. She just couldn’t get over it… She did notice, however, that he struggled a bit with the word family, and when he stepped back and muttered sorry in an embarrassed way. He was acting a but strange, on the edge and nervous, though his voice stayed smooth. What was going on? She wanted to ask if everything was okay, but that would be sort of awkward, she thought. Besides, she just met him, and his unexpected kindness made her curious, and wanted to know more about this… Titian. Reaching out with a smile, she shook his hand back, then folded her arms across her chest, looking down the street. She wasn’t quite sure about his question. She hadn’t bought her last phone herself. It had been a present from her mother for her eighteenth birthday, since she hadn’t had a phone until then. However, she knew of a store where they sold the same brand. It wasn’t far from there, actually, but she didn’t like going in there. One of the salesmen looked at her funny… in a very… suggestive way. "Well…" she said, looking back to Titian, "There’s a tiny store about a block down that sells the type I have…" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ! done TAGGED! Titian! Will I discover a soul saving love, or, just the dirt above and below me...
Rush didn't -normally- pickpocket on rainy days full of people. Rain made him clumsy, and the windbreaker he'd thrown on over his t-shirt - the neon yellow windbreaker, and the only one he'd ever made - definitely made him stand out. But perhaps the fact that he stood out would be a blessing... It would make him less likely to seem the suspect.
He looked out over the crowd, profiling in his head as quickly as he could, looking for who would be the best mark. He didn't really have to - he could just steal as much as he could for about, oh, 30 seconds... and then remove himself from the immediate memory of everyone in the area. But this was easier - and somehow, this felt safer. One at a time, even if it was slower, meant Rush could use his natural dexterity to his advantage, instead of constantly using his... Well, whatever you wanted to call it. His "powers".
He saw a shoe store, and saw what looked like a bubbly girl and some guy talking in front of it. She had dropped her phone - which would be deadly to a phone in the rain - but she didn't seem too worried about it. She would've been a good mark - if that guy hadn't been next to her. They were engrossed enough in their conversation that he didn't mind picking the woman next to them, also window shopping, lost in her own thoughts about what would look good with her hideous fur coat and giant handbag. The giant handbags were always the best - you could fit so much in there, and most times you wouldn't even notice the weight of something missing...
He sidled up next to her and darted a quick hand into her bag, giving a practiced light sweep for a wallet, which he found with little to no effort. It was always on top with these sorts of women - they were always spending, spending, spending... He would have to use the credit cards soon, because her husband (or lover, or male mistress, or boyfriend...) would probably cancel them for her that night, but maybe she had some cash.
As he pulled the wallet out of her bag, she turned to him. Startled for a second, she had just enough time to say "EXCUSE me young man..." And as she met Rush's eyes, she froze, starting at him, a look of confusion on her face.
"I'm sorry for bumping into you, ma'am. This is my mother's favorite shoe store, and I wanted to see what sorts of things to get her for her birthday..." He gave her a winning smile - and he was definitely wishing he hadn't worn this bright windbreaker. He felt it made him look like a dork, but at least the waterproof material kept him dry.
"Oh... Yes... Well... That's quite alright, then. Good luck!" And with a smile, the woman was gone, her wallet in his pocket. He wouldn't pull it out right here - that would be too obvious - but he really only needed... something like one more pickpocket today, at least to make rent and have some surplus food.
And maybe a new windbreaker...
STATUS; DONE! NOTES; Of course, Rush is right next to Aisylnn and Titian. I wasn't sure how clear it was in the post itself, so I thought I'd add that right here. =D
